Creative Brief

Logo for an enterainment company/entertainer

JewishComedian.com

David Glickman

Yes

I am a professional comedian and this logo is for one of the customized shows that I do. Even though the logo is a domain name, it is conveying the entertainment value of the show I do.

The name JewishComedian.com is the prominent part of the logo--but I've included my name, David Glickman, as the 'tagline', which just means that it should be underneath the logo, but much smaller than the logo itself. I am not famous, so my name will not sell the show--but the concept of JewishComedian.com should be catchy to those who are interested in hiring a Jewish comedian.

The logo should represent that the show is fun BUT not be too silly or cartoon-like. It should convey that I am a professional and that the show is professional.

I would like the logo to be very colorful, which I think would convey fun and energy. I would lean towards primary colors--blue, red, white, yellow, orange, etc. I would stay away from pastels and browns. I'd like the logo to be very colorful--but if you have a great idea that is 1 or 2 colors, I am open to that. If you want to limit the colors to 1 or 2, please include blue and white, as those are colors often associated with the Jewish religion.

As I said above, even though the logo is representing a comedy show, it should not be too silly. It needs to look fun, yet professional.

You might want to consider including a microphone (with or without a microphone stand) as part of the logo, to help convey the main tool of a comedian.

I would also suggest including graphics of one or more of the elements often associated with the Jewish religion. Things like a menorah, a dreidel, matzah, a Jewish star, a torah scroll, etc. If you Google these items, you will find images of all of them to help you.

Regardless of what graphic elements you may or may not include, it is important to me that the logo be very easy to read.

Dear Designers, Forgive my error in the last post! There are only eight letters in the word "Comedian", not nine. However, the menorah could still possibly work as a graphic with the word, because the middle candle could possibly be designed thinner, so that it didn't interfere with the other letters. Just thinking out loud. Again, my apologies for the math error in the number of letters. David

Dear Designers, Thank you for the designs you have submitted already. There is certainly a lot of creativity going into your ideas. One idea I thought I'd suggest: In my brief, I mention the possibility of incorporating the graphic of a 'menorah' into the logo. (A menorah is a nine candle candelabra.) So far, nobody has put that into any of the designs. Which is perfectly fine--the winning design may not have that at all. But it could possibly be a very attractive visual element to add to the logo. It could be very small--as simply an accent to the logo--or it could be very large as an integral part of the logo. (There are nine candles in the menorah and there are nine letters in the word "Comedian", so there might be something that could be done there.) And only one designer has included a dreidel--another possible fun graphic element--into the logo. So keep those in mind as you come up with ideas, in addition to the other elements I suggest in the brief. Thank you so much, David
