Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision

The Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (WACES) was founded in 1961 as one of five regional organizations of the national Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES). WACES counts among its members professionals and students from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington, as well as Pacific Rim countries.

WACES seeks to advance the education, credentialing, and supervision of counselors. The association advocates for a multicultural approach that honors diversity and promotes the mastery of knowledge, skills, and competencies of its members who work in mental health, guidance, counseling, and student personnel services in all settings of society.

We have an old black and white logo that you can start with. The mountains and the water seem like they represent the West. The sun is not needed and feels more like a desert theme. But we are open to other designs that better represent the university educators who prepare counselors in the Western Region of the US.

    I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that WACES represents professionals and students from Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington, as well as Pacific Rim countries. Most states have a mountain range to the East and the Pacific ocean to the West. We used the mountains and the oceans in the past to represent this geography but it did not say much about the endeavor or education and counseling. We are open to new ideas.
