Describe who/what this design is about

We are a construction and project management company geared toward working on government projects. Even though we are a small company I would like our logo to give the appearance of a large, professional and capable operation.

Do you have any additional suggestions or ideas?

We are a commercial construction company. We do concrete work, excavation and carpentry. We also manage construction projects. Most of our work is for the Government on commercial buildings and site work.
Some examples of logo's I have considered include rolled up plans and blueprints or variations with a large and bold L and D but very open to other ideas.
We do not want skyscrapers or residential homes or construction equipment on the logo.
The Logo will be used on business cards, shirts, coats and hats along with company letterhead.
