logo for a biomedical research center at MIT
MIT Center for Integrative Synthetic Biology
No
This logo is for a biomedical research center that is working to find ways to engineer cells so that they act as biosensors and can return information to doctors in the cause of treating human diseases. For example, a cell might be engineered to detect the presence of abnormal cell around it, and “light-up” to alert the doctor that abnormal cells are present in that location. The research focuses on creating new cells or cellular circuits from component parts. They are genetically engineering intelligent cells for specific tasks.
The logo should convey that the research is about cell engineering and manipulation, and that it is on the cutting edge of this technology.

The choice of color palette is up to the designer. However this project is affiliated with MIT Department of Biological Engineering (be.mit.edu) and the logo color should coordinate or incorporate the green color that is in the MIT BE logo. The research is funded by NIGMS (National Institute of General Medical Sciences) (http://www.nigms.nih.gov/Pages/default.aspx) and the logo will be displayed in coordination with the NIGMS logo as well.
The images in the logo could be related to cells, DNA, circuitry.
While not required in all drafts, we would like to see some drafts of the logo designs that include the following tagline: An NIGMS-funded National Center for Systems Biology
