Creative Brief

Central HS Choir Logo

San Angelo Central High School Choir

No

This is a logo for a large high school choir program in West Texas.

Looking for something that incorporates elements from the school culture yet stays classy and professional (not overly youthful).

http://central.saisd.org/

Our school colors are blue and orange. The school mascot is a bobcat.

The following combinations of words may prove workable:
San Angelo Central High School Choir
Central High Choir, San Angelo, Texas
Bobcat Choir
etc.

alpino, I like your #57, #58, and #59 but the blue looks too purple. Can you change these to use the blue that is more like #62. Also, in #61, can you get the comma closer to the 'o' in San Angelo. I like the orange in #57. I like the three variations in #58. #59, the text is cool. Can you fix the blue? Can you get the letters of "High Choir" to space a little closer together, but more space between each word? #60 is flat wrong... "San Angela"? Change to "San Angelo".

mnorth, I like your #55. It may really please some of my alumni because it is very similar to what was used a long time ago. Now don't take it down...LOL. :p

otakkecil, Like your #56. Can you experiment with centering the "San Angelo, Texas" under the word block? Also, what do you think about making the word block a little bigger so that the whole thing (icon and words) makes more use of a possible square outline? Just an idea. To all: keep 'em coming. Love that there are so many great options!

Wow, I've got some really great options here. To all: please don't withdraw something just because of how I rated it. I will be showing these to my students and colleagues and gathering their opinions/feedback which will possibly change the ratings and comments I make here. The initial star rating is just my knee-jerk reaction...it changes. :) Thanks!

T-shirt stuff is not necessary. This will find its way on to shirts, but will be primarily for business cards, website, letterhead, etc.

In discussions with my students, they really like #27 and #26, but they think the bobcat should either be all blue or all orange (like you originally submitted) :). They do, however, like having the words have both colors, like you've done.

Draft #32 (mnorth), I like your bobcat with treble clef...clever. Colors are a bit off to my eye. Orange is slightly too light and creamy, blue is almost too "purple"-y. Like your single color versions. Can I see versions to compare that have: "San Angelo, Texas" below the logo instead of in the title, slightly less curved text. Thank you for your creativity.

Ideas for designBud (drafts #35, #36) maybe center the "Central High Choir" above the other text. I like the bobcat, but when in black in white it becomes too busy and unrecognizable, could it be more solid for the black and white version/backgrounds?

This is the old logo that is kinda cool, but we don't have a digital version so we never use it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6394992/Central%20HS%20Choir/IMG_0359.JPG

"Central High School Choir" is also acceptable if laid out just right.

Would like to see draft #12 also with orange "Central High Choir" and blue "San Angelo, Texas" to compare with #12. I definitely like the blue bobcat with orange bottom better than the other way around.

To all: I would also like to see some designs (and variations on current submissions) that are more square in aspect. Would like to be able to use the logo in square image boxes (Facebook & Twitter profiles, etc.).

mvillamin, You've got to have the comma between the town and state: San Angelo, Texas. Also, I feel like the orange eyes are a step in the wrong direction.

Like elements of draft #5 as well, would like to see a little bit of orange thrown in. Also perhaps versions with and without "San Angelo, Texas" underneath.

Design #7, I really like. Can you also submit a version that inverts the colors (what is orange be blue, and what is blue make orange)?

In their defense, design #1, which used http://www.npccomics.com/westcoastbias/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/bobcat_logo_250w.gif, that is the logo my school uses which I included for use/consideration. That wasn't their fault. The school football team uses that for their logo, so I don't know if they have permission to use it or if they ripped it off, but that's one of the logos they use and was given to me.

I think I'm leaning more towards "Central High Choir" as the words to use.

To avoid wordiness, if you include "San Angelo" in your design, it could be centered underneath written this way "San Angelo, Texas". Just an idea. Would prefer: Central High Choir, Bobcat Choir, or Central High School Choir. San Angelo Central High School Choir (everything) could work if designed just right so as to not be too busy/wordy.

Draft #2 and Draft #3, blue should be more of the royal variety (a little lighter). Also, not really liking the "missing eye" thing.
