Abilities Expo

No

Abilities Expo is targeted for people with ALL disabilities, their caregivers, veterans and seniors. "ALL disabilities" include people who have challenges with mobility, sight, hearing, learning and development. The Expo focuses on helping these people to live a full and exciting life. In addition to bringing them products and services to help with their disability, there are also workshops, sporting events, dance, assistive dogs and horses, and more. Abilities Expo is a celebration of what people CAN do, not what they CAN’T.

We are looking to create a new logo that does not represent any disability—no wheelchairs, no handicapped symbols, no logos and no icons. We are looking for a modern, crisp and bright logo which utilizes our company colors—orange and purple—and is still powerful in black and white. We are looking for something simple, yet bold most likely in a modern, san-serif font. It may or may not include a flourish or some graphic element. However, the graphic element should not be representative of any kind of disability; i.e. no ears to represent deafness, no braille or canes to represent blindness, no wheelchairs to represent spinal cord injuries. Likewise, if you choose to include a graphic element, DO NOT use a dove to represent freedom, a globe to represent community, a sun to represent hope or hands to represent accomplishment. Also DO NOT use any kind of stylized human figures…anything like that will alienate some part of our target audience.

Also, in coming up with a treatment for “Abilities Expo,” do not emphasize “Expo” over “Abilities.” It’s the “Abilities” part that is the most important.
