Creative Brief

JD Law Firm Logo

JD Law

No

We are based in Edmonton, Canada and offer law services to males/females around the ages of 25-60 year old. Our law firm aspires to be approachable and friendly, we connect with clients and make them feel like they are the priority. We would want our logo to reflect this mentality in some way - we are not all business, we do care about our clients and their needs.

If I were to choose 5 words to describe our company it would be: Professional, Respectful, Caring, Understanding, Flexible.

We put our clients first and want them to feel important, because of this we don't want our logo to appear "stuffy" or "snobbish" like many law firm logos can. We'd like our logo to be new, fresh, innovative and professional.

Partial to blue and green. Want a logo that is easily recognizable. Clean cut and simple but still professional, strong, bold. Don’t want really bright colors like yellow, orange, or pink because those seem more immature or for a younger style. Need to look professional on a letterhead with black font. Logo would appear on letters that could form part of a litigation file so needs to be respectful and not too loud.

In terms of amount of colors, we're not sold on anything at this point, obviously with too many colors professionalism comes into question so keep that in mind.

Thanks, and have fun!

Hey guys - thanks again and more feedback below: Draft #76 is nice and I wouldn't say there is anything to change about it. I am just not sure I want to have a logo that is the Canadian image of the maple leaf. I am really liking draft #67 and draft #66 and draft #65. They look clean cut, professional, and bold. If possible I would like to see draft #65 with the letters "JD" on blue similar to draft #66 and draft #67. I haven't made a decision about the color yet. All three are strong colors and look good. I think I am most drawn to either gold or blue. I like having the same logo in a few colors to decide what looks best. Draft #58 is good too and comparable to my last comments. The real different is having the "JD" as a logo and then the full name "JD Law". Draft #57 is not too bad. But I have trouble with the edge of the "D" not being outlines. I think it makes it a bit harder to see right away what letter is there. Draft #62 is a solid blue while draft #61 uses a fading blue to look like there is a light shining. While it looks good on a computer screen I am not so sure the fading blue will be as effective on a letterhead. I also think the darker sold blue stands out and is more bold in draft #62. Draft #45 needs to remove the word "firm" because our trade name is only "JD Law". Similar to the previous page, would be nice to see draft #45 in a few different colors. Draft #39 is unique in that it has the logo completely separate from the name "JD Law" which is a neat approach. It would be interesting to see a few more styles like this and some different takes on the design with color. Both drafts look professional, clean cut, and strong. Draft #44 and draft #36 I don't think look appropriate for a law firm - lacks some of that professional, clean cut image I am looking for. Draft #52 looks okay but I am not a huge fan of having the extra dot above a capital "J". Draft #43 is not too bad in the sense it does look professional. But it doesn't look unique to me. Plus it also uses the word "Firm" and if that were removed I am not so sure the same balance will be there.

Hey guys, thanks for the designs so far - some feedback: I think the blue and black is looking sharper than the blue and green. Wouldn't mind seeing other variations in color if people want to try their own thing. I think draft #33 has potential but would want the font altered. Needs to look more formal. Like the design of draft #17 better than draft #16, but would like to see draft #17 in the blue and black color too. Can you remove "firm" from logos 16,17,19. The problem I have with draft #26 is that there isn't enough separation between the logo and the phrase "JD Law" so that it looks too repetitive. Draft #25 looks really sharp and bold but would be interested in seeing the word "Law" made a bit larger to stand out more. Draft #22 I think did a good job with their creativity as it is unique which is nice. But I would just be considered that there is too much white space and it might be too difficult to discren the JD especially if the logo on a letterhead is photocopied and is displayed as black and white. I also think draft #9 is unique and very clever. But there are two potential concerns I would have. First, the lighter blue is too light in color and, second, the gavel does confirm the legal aspect but it more focused on litigation and our practice is more a solicitor base practice (meaning contract and real estate work and less courtroom work). Thank-you!

Attention Designers!! MycroBurst permits you to submit unlimited designs with unlimited variations. However, if you are providing 2 or 3 different color versions of the same logo in one draft, please make sure that if the particular draft gets finalized, each color version should be separated before you will send the final files. Thanks, MB/LDG/LS Team
