Serious Foods, Serious Chefs & Serious Stuff

No

We are based in the United Kingdom (London) and have established 3 separate businesses in the foodservice industry. Please note this is foodservice (and not food retail) so our customers are professional chefs at hotels and restaurants.

Although the 3 businesses operate separately they are connected with each other so we are looking for an identity that is common across them all. As an example take a look at some of the businesses run by Virgin http://www.virginmedia.com
http://www.virgin-atlantic.com
http://uk.virginmoney.com.
Virgin is obviously common to all the brands and it is supplemented with media, atlantic & money as appropriate. This is the concept that we wish to have.

The brand that we have established (equivalent to Virgin) is Serious. The 3 businesses that we have established are Serious Foods, Serious Chefs and Serious Stuff as described below:

Serious Foods: is involved in the supply and delivery of food ingredients (around 2,000 different products such as pasta, tinned vegetables, oils and vinegars etc) to high quality hotels and fine dining restaurants. These are prestigious customers such as the world famous Ritz Hotel London.

Serious Chefs: is a recruitment agency specialising in recruiting chefs for quality hotels and fine dining restaurants in London. This business has pretty much the same customer base as Serious Foods.

Serious Stuff: is a web based business which enables chefs to order specialist food products on-line.

What we are looking for is the common brand identity along with its 3 variations as described above.

Dear Designers In the last few days a number of new designers have submitted designs. Unfortunately they have generally not been terribly original which is somewhat unfair on those who have been working with us since the inception of the project.. We have therefore chosen to "veil" the project and extend it. We would, of course, welcome receiving original new design concepts from new designers!

Dear Designers Thank you all for your submissions to date. As you will see we have been tidying up those project submissions and eliminating those that are, in our opinion, somewhat off the mark. For some designers we have also given individual feedback. As a general statement there is currently no clear cut design so please retain your individualism in any new submissions. What we are looking for is a breadth of choice rather than a narrowing concept. We have one general comment however and that is around using an iconic element in the logo. As we said in the brief please do not work around plates, cutlery, chefs hats etc. These are somewhat outdated in the UK!! Random 3D spheres etc may well look stunning but have no relevance to our image so best avoid. That leaves the concept of seriousness, and the common theme of food. Both are difficult to encapsulate without looking "cheesey". That said we would rather seem some suggestions/ideas to consider rather than receive nothing at all. We are impressed with the quality of work submitted to date. We have given everyone the same basic star rating as at this stage we are not favouring any particular design. The contest is still wide open!!! Regards Nick & Diana
