Logo for independent artist company entitled Iota Marbling Studios

Iota Marbling Studios

Excitingly Contemporary (See notes on Style Guide requirement)

Yes

This logo is for an independent artist studio using the old art of water marbling (as also known as paper marbling, Turkish Ebru and Japanese Suminagashi) as the principle basis of it's products and services. The logo will be used in online commerce stores (such as Etsy, Bigcartel, Society6 and Shopify) selling hand-made prints and items, as well as part of corporate art licensing projects (for commercial use, label design and pattern submissions.) Lastly, this studio logo may be used within class materials for live demonstrations, training and teaching sessions and future publications.

This logo should convey a sense of artistic beauty and timelessness. It should also help communicate the true retro nature of this art form, yet present itself as new, modern and fresh. Lastly, it needs to be able to functional within these various marketing channels seamlessly, whether for print material, web marketing, future stationary, or branding components.

I'm open to color combinations by the designers, but I thought black, purple and blue would be good means to communicate a stable, creative and reputable brand; yet offer sophistication and style.

not sure

I initially envisioned a splash of colored paint dotting the "I" of Iota as a possible and easy mark creation, but please do not be afraid to consider and express other ideas. I also thought about a strong Roman or Greek type font for Iota, while using something classy and artistic to help spell out Marbling Studios. However, again, I'm open to other arrangements which help to imbue this art form or help to further communicate the brand and the products.

If possible, I'd like style guide to be included with submissions (and/or final products), so that I may use this logo across the various marketing channels, while also using this mark, logo and slogan interchangeably across venues. (Such as something like this: http://www.process-box.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/styleguide.png) This may not be required for your initial submissions, but if you are the winner, it is part of my requirement to receive the contest money.

Hello Designers -- So sorry I haven't offered any feedback these last two days. I've been kept unusually busy, but I promise to do that tonight after work. (Here in California, PST.) I've really enjoyed the new sets and revisions being submitted thus far. It is truly becoming difficult to place one over another, so bear with me while I help make additional decisions during these last few days together. I will be glad to offer personal feedback to each of you, as part of my promise to you as the project holder. Thank you again for all your diligence and hard work!

Hi Designers -- Thanks for all your continued efforts and revisions. I'd like to encourage you all to learn just a bit more about paper and water marbling, especially if this may help you to bring in some visual elements into your designs. Doing so will really help to differentiate this logo (and yourself within this contest.) Suggestions might be to include some of the tools, techniques or patterns used within the paper marbling art form itself, in order to help create a solid logo identity for this upcoming art studio. This form of art is entirely water-and-paint based, so the amount of visual information on this form of creative art is literally staggering. I hope this research and these ideas continue to inspire and offer the creative spark towards your next revision or logo direction. I am glad to remain very connected to this context, so please feel free to continue to email, message and solicit questions as they arise. I will continue to offer feedback as quickly and often as possible. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Hi Designers -- Thank you for taking the first swing at this project. However, I noticed a few errors already and would like to help clarify the name of the company: It is IOTA (that's spelt Indigo, Omega, Tango, Alpha.) Please be certain to adjust your draft submissions in the meantime please. Thank you!
