Creative Brief

Logo for a Group Buying/Daily Deals WebSite

Deal Vat or DealVat or Dealvat.com

Yes

It's a daily deal site logo. It should be easy to read, casual, but not playful, and inspire trust and purchases :) The name "Deal Vat" can be combined or separated and can have a .com in the design if the design is not an acronym logo.

A color for trust and a color to inspire buying (Blue and Orange seem like prime candidates). Having 2 colors or less is not a must (especially if there's a .com in the logo), just what I'm leaning towards.

2

Deal and Vat can be separated or together as one with a .com in the logo. For acronym logos, .com can't be used. Logo will be viewed mainly by people that have a smartphone and regular access to the internet.

One more final helpful comment, try switching the colors of deal and vat for those that have 2 colors split between them!!

Hello all, Thank you for your contributions thus far, it's been a real pleasure to see the different designs and ideas people had for the logo. I'm going to eliminate all the designs that are less than 3 stars since they don't stand a chance of winning. In general, for the 3-4 star designs, my main comments that may improve the number of stars: 1. Try to convey the meaning of a deal vat in your current logo designs, it may make a difference. for example try to incorporate a vat with something symbolizing a deal in it . 2. Try to be lively enough for a deal site. You can probably do this with font and color. 3. Try to be modern, neat, and generally, look credible. 4. For those who have gradient logos, try non-gradient versions, and vice-versa. This contest will probably not be extended by the way, as I can see myself using many of these logos as my deal site's logo (it's actually quite confusing at this point to pick one :D). Thanks again and best of luck, Falas

By the way everyone, in case you don't know, a vat is a large cylinder that stores/has liquid, similar to a small silo. That's why it's called DealVat, its a place that has deals. May be interesting to add that in some concepts.

Hello all, I just found out yesterday that my logo project is veiled. My last 2 I believe were unveiled, and I thought that was the default setting. I think having an unveiled project helped designers know what I want from seeing my ratings on other designs, even better than when I give feedback. Feedback is usually only used to tweak 4's and 5's. If you don't mind me unveiling or would like me to unveil the project, please give this post a thumbs up. If not, please give it a thumbs down. I'll give 16 hours to decide. A tie results in unveiling since I'm in favor of that :) Thanks, Falas

Hello all, Some guidelines on my star ratings as I'm noticing many replicates of 2 star drawings: 1 - it's not worth pursuing or modifying. 2 - also not worth pursuing or modifying. You can ask me why I didn't give it a 1, the answer might help, though there is a good chance I'll be too busy answering questions from 3's and 4's. You're better off trying a new concept. 3 - it's good and it's worth using some concepts from the old theme. I can give you feedback if you want to pursue a new spin on your design rather than try a new concept. 4 - it's great and needs some modifications to be a 5. Please feel free to ask for feedback at this level as there is a decent chance your design will make it to a 5 and thus be a winner. Towards the end of the competition, I will give you my feedback without you asking (I'm not doing it at this point, because I'm still formulating ideas from the designs of how it should look like) 5 - is excellent and means it could definitely be my logo and should just get minor tweaks to improve its chances. Hope that helps, Falas

Hello all, There have been some nice designs so far. There has been a large amount of acronym, typed, abstract, and shape logo concepts. Just a few notes I think I should give: 1. DealVat will not be a luxury brand, it is for everyone. A lot of the Acronyms logo concepts look similar to Premium fashion brand logos which is why even if they look nice, I'm giving them 1 star. 2. I haven't seen any "Web 2.0" logos yet. I'm not saying it has to be one to win, just that the final logo can be one, so feel free to add concepts of that sort. 3. If you need specific feedback on a certain concept, please PM me. Note that I may not have a specific answer, and may just find a certain design simply doesn't appeal to me. Many Thanks, Falas
