Jersey Dance

Jersey Dance

Contemporary Balllroom & Latin Dancing

Yes

This logo needs to be able to go on business cards and the website. It is for Jersey Dance which is a Ballroom & Latin Dance Studio in New Jersey. Think of this as a non-franchise competitor to Arthur Murray Dance Studios. The website is under development but the colors are good enough for now. www.jerseydance.com (you can also read our "about us" page there)

I like the way #47 uses the background "pattern" to stand out on the site. Something about the guy's hand bothers me. Is it the wrong direction? not sure.

I would say for #50, can you end the tagline earlier and bring the image down so the bottom of it is at the same place as the bottom of the tagline and still connect dance to the image in some way.. wow.. I am probably asking for too much. Trying to reduce the height of that logo.

I withdraw my last comment. I see you are already too bright and did that in #50.

Can #51 still include the end of the word dance blending into the image?

While I do like it, the image in #57 seems way too close to Arthur Murray's logo www.arthurmurray.com

Hello, I am the partner in this project. Some notes: #3, this is one of my favorites. It has a classical look, and the picture is incorporated into the words "Jersey dance" I like the flow of the design. #49 I also like this one because it is clearly ballroom but still looks inviting. It is classy but not intimidating. #57 I like this one as well, It is still classical ballroom but it is a little more fun. I think this might be the middle ground between me and Jeff! As far as the type of design I lean towards, it must be clearly ballroom dancing (because "Jersey Dance" itself is not very specific)and I am a fan of a classical look. I also like a more curved, organic shaped logo rather than a more rigid one. But, remember, I am only one of the two people deciding on this.

Note to creativepic. I really like your work but the images appear to be more ballet to to me than ballroom. Can you think a little more about how to make the imagry ballroom in style?

For #40,41,42, I appreciate your participation. Great ideas. I find it too complicated to make out the image though. It took me a while to see the woman. I don't know if there is a way to make it clearer?

One last comment. In general, remember that an absolute key requirement of this is that the logo looks great on the website (www.jerseydance.com) Anything you can do (either provided transparent background image or showing on website) will improve your chances as it gives us an easier picture. It takes me a long time to get an image on the website myself (making it transparent then putting it on the site) as I am not as talented as all of you. Thanks again!

Wanted to clear up a slight possible misconception with maybe the way I wrote the brief. I didn't want to de-emphasize the word "Jersey" (which some may have tried to do). I just didn't want the logo to focus on some like the state map or something. I wanted to keep the focus around dance (which everyone correctly did). DeEmphasizing the word isn't necessarily bad but it isn't a requirement.

Other notes on #28 and the brand new #29. These are very creative and cool. Have you looked at them over the website? I am not sure that green goes with the purple shades on the website Then again, I am far from a visual artist so I will have to try it and see.

OK.. Here are our general thoughts as of right now. My partner may override me. Note that my partner hasn't looked at some of the newest ones yet so that may impact the comments below. Everything is great and we definitely appreciate the time. Withdrawn - Not sure I understand why certain things are withdrawn? rights issues? #1 - really #3 in black/white w/ tagline #2 - really #3 in black/white w/o tagline #3 - Same as #1+2 .. Can you show this in color over the website? or at least upload a color image with a transparent background so I can look at it over the website? Thanks! My partner's favorite so it has a really good shot! #4 - redone as #18 #5 - cool but doesn't feel right for us #6 - I like this but not for us. #10/11/12 - I like the diversity in it and the very modern feel but not the right logo for us #15 - I might like this. Need to look at it on the website when I have time. #16 - Appreciate you showing it on the website. That is awesome and got me to consider it more. I don't think we love that particular image though. #17/18 - My current favorite #19 - Feels like the image is straight up and down vs the angled logo letters. Maybe the image could be altered so it would make sense to be slanted also? Maybe some dance move that bends the characters the same as the logo. #20/21 - Not my very favorite but in the running. (my partner hasn't looked at the newer ones like this one yet) I suspect she likes #3 better which is also yours. #22/23 - Don't love these for us but I appreciate them. #24 - The globe feel way to big vs the lettering #25 - This is cool but feels too abstract for me. #26/27/28 - I like these but they may be too fun. They feel like they should be on the front of a playbill to me. I want to see what my partner thinks. Thanks again. I really do appreciate and think highly of every entry. Keep the great ideas flowing!

Love the ideas so far. Would love to see more different ideas. One thought, I am curious what images would look like if they were more "latin in style" vs ballroom and more fun & sexy. Now, that is just a thought so the classical ballroom look might turn out to be the right path. Also, I need to make sure the logo doesn't come too close to Arthur Murray's logo which is a silohuette (search Google images for Arthur Murray Logo) Thanks!
