Creative Brief

Business Logo (my company's name is Talent Matters Inc.)

Talent Matters

No

• Letter Case: submit submissions using both (a) all lower-case letters (i.e., talent matters) and (b) title case letters (i.e., Talent Matters);

• Placement of Words: submit submissions showing both (a) the two words side by side (i.e., talent matters) and (b) with talent above the word matters;

• Fonts: some examples of font types we like are the more rounded lettering used in "FOUNDRY CONTEXT" font, but with a play on one or two letters (e.g., see the way "g" is constructed in the gowlings logo at www.gowlings.com or the way the "m" is constructed in the mccarthy tétrault logo at www.mccarthy.ca -- the last line in the letter "m" is dropped and is cut on an angle in order to give the appearance it is the accent over the letter "e" in tetrault) -- the point is to play up certain letters in the logo;

• No Picture: we do not want to have an insignia or picture as part of the logo, as we rather have the logo be focussed on the actual words "talent matters", which we plan to use on all marketing materials rather than an insignia or picture;

• Colour: we like greys, grey-or steel-grey blues, other muted blues or muted non-vibrant colours and perhaps the use of one vibrant colour to emphasize one particular letter or feature, but you should submit both one with and without the vibrant colour to show the difference. We also would like to see examples of colour progression in the lettering -- for example, please see how the letters "go" are darker in colour than the rest of the letters "wlings" in the logo gowlings at www.gowlings.com

• Hollow lettering: whatever we choose for the actual colour, font, etc., we also want you to provide lettering without any colour in them in order for us to use an "imagery logo" depending on what we are trying to market (i.e., see www.mccarthy.ca and how they place a picture within the blank space of the lettering). So to be clear, please show us an example of how this would look, but we would need the designer to create the hollow lettering in order for us to use whatever picture we would like once we own the logo.

    I have extended the project 3 more days as we have seen some great designs and have provided some feedback to designers who have been asked to modify their submissions slightly. I plan to finalize this project in the next 48 hours. Thanks again to all the designers who have put forth some great submissions.

    Designers, Thank you for all of your contributions. We have now had the chance to review our approach and as a result, we have increased the fee and revised our project brief. Please ensure you review it, as we have provided specific requirements around creating our brand. In particular, please take a look at the logos we have referred to in the brief for inspiration, including the sample for the "imagery logo" (which is the typographic words without any colour or fill so that different images can be displayed in place of colour or fill by us). Please note that this "imagery logo" is in addition to the colour logo that we also want you to design. Lastly, we do not want a graphic picture or initials, but instead want you to focus solely on the words "talent matters". Please advise if you have any questions. Thanks.

    Eminence who drafted design # 7 is also a front runner design and I would ask you to also draft two other variations of the same design with black and grey shading on a white background and also a hollow logo and lettering design.

    MayID logo design #15 is a leading submission and I would like to ask the designer to try two additional versions of this design firstly, do the same design with a black, grey shading for the lettering and logo on a white background and secondly, do the same design with a hollow logo and lettering on a white background.

    Deelu91, I like this design and would suggest that the talent matters name needs to be more bold, defined so as to stand out more and that the squiggle profiles also be more defined. I like this and have a preference for black, grey and white shading.

    I like design #8 and would suggest that there needs to be less white space, a border or something to provide some background.

    Upon reflection design #3 is one I also like and would ask the designer to work with some other colour schemes and possibly look at an alternate design for the three bars.

    I like design number 1 and design number 7. My feedback on #1 would be to look at another volour versus lime green and reposition the black border in different ways versus just at the bottom. My feedback for design #7 would be to look at a grey on black orvother two tone volour scheme in the black and tones and explore another option versus repeating the logo at the bottom. I was please with the overall quality of all submissions. Thanks Neale
