Residential and Small Business Computer Support

No

I have a small computer support company. Since starting up, I have always focused on commercial support and other than our invoices we didn't have much need for a logo or matching documents. We have grown and last year we opened our first retail location and we now we do much more residential repair as well. Our name doesn't really reflect what we do, so we end up using long taglines to make sure people realize that we fix computers. Our primary services personal services include in-store diagnostics, virus removals, data backups / recovery, reinstalling Windows, laptop dc-jack repair, and system tune-ups. Our primary commercial services are on-site emergency repair, remote monthly maintenance, and managed service / network monitoring. Our website is www.mytechnologyspecialist.com (although that will be our next project...) I would prefer to use the same playful blue and orange color scheme but if it needs to go, I guess now is the time. While we are still small, after 5 years we need a professional image to match the quality of the work we perform.

oops, please note in section 3 of the last public message, we meant to write illustration from draft #115 with text block of draft #145. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks again to everyone! This is our first project and we may have used "eliminate" a little to frequently as compared to star rating - but we have loved all the drafts and are currently almost having fist fights defending our personal favorites! The 3 camps remaining are: 1) prefer the cube in draft #145 / draft #97. Love the cube & the text. No change needed. 2) prefer the flat illustration in draft #115 / draft #125. Love the illustration and are ok with the text, but debate between location for text (below vs side by side). Everyone agrees that the single color version of this illustration looks just as good as the full color version. 3) would like to see the illustration from draft #115 with a similar text block to draft #125 (small uppercase name above a larger "ComputerSupport" tagline). In any case, we will be putting up a number of other projects shortly because this experience has been great and hopefully we will be able to utilize the system a little better on the next one. So thank you again to everyone for making picking a winner such a hard decision for us! Greg

Regarding draft #106, other than the color, we like how simple this is. The use of our initials and integration into the illustration is very nice. The font used on our name / tagline is one of the few things holding us back on this draft. But we really like the screen w/ MTS. Thanks for the great submission!

Regarding draft #97, we love it. As of now, this is the only logo with any depth or shadow that we have all agreed on. It seems easier for us to agree on the flat ones we like such as draft #80 or #106 - especially because the single color versions translate more easily and effectively. That being said, we really love the use of the shorter "Computer Support" tagline - and how it was done without any space between. It really catches your attention. We love the boxes coming off of it and the fact that our initials are used along with our name. On the M, this newest draft has the M "cut-out" too, which looks great to us.

Regarding draft #94, we love how clean the illustration looks, which has prevented us from completely eliminating it. But something about the overall effect of the logo doesn't work for us. We also didn't really like how this one looks then in a single color. Again, not sure if this feedback is helpful, but there is something about that illustration that really catches our attention initially, but we can't seem to agree on what we like or dislike once we zoom in.

Regarding draft #89, we like the use of lowercase and bold in our name and the illustration is very clean. This is a very professional looking logo, but the general consensus was that we'd prefer more color text. Oddly, we also think that adding color to the text would make it lose the simplicity that makes it so professional. So, not sure if that is helpful or not, but we were split on this one.

Regarding draft #80, we love the fact it looks good white on blue and white on orange. We'd like to see black on white too, but in general we like almost every aspect of this logo.

Regarding draft #47, we like that it includes our initials. The shape is also cool. Although not directly computer related, it works. Our concern is that we love the background too much. It seems like this design would look cool on a website, but we aren't sure if it would really carry over to printed form on our business cards, brochures, vehicles, etc.

Regarding draft #36, we like the fact that the tagline goes the entire width of the logo, since that would be the longest line and in some other drafts it was not readable because of it's small size when fit next to the illustration. We also love the clean font used in the tagline. As an alternative, we are also open to using the tagline "Computer Support" if it fits better, such as in draft #97. We also liked the power button quite a bit until someone pointed out how similar to the chicago cubs the illustration was.

Wow - thanks everyone - I've been messaging a lot of you individually, but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone. We are still new to this process, but you guys have come up with amazing ideas and I wish we could use them all. We are about to go through and leave a last round of public feedback to help anyone with any last minute direction. Thanks again!

draft #16 is proportionally too wide and is almost all text. We're looking for the text of our name to be less featured. But thank you for integrating the illustration with part of the text - that is what we want. But we want it on a larger scale where a computer related illustration catches your eye, and then you notice our name in / on / around the illustration. Thanks!

Regarding draft #15, I like that our name takes up less space as compared to the rest of the illustration. I think there should be some computer related item instead of the of abstract overlapping squares (ie, have an illustration of a computer, laptop, screen, or some real world item). I don't care for the colors used, but again, as far as our name getting smaller, I like it.

Regarding most of the drafts, we would like a narrower logo. I realize that our name is long, so the only way to have a more narrow logo is to have our name much smaller, which we are ok with. We were hoping for a logo where our name is small enough that it can be part of the illustration. Then down the road if a certain print or digital document needs to clearly have our name ina larger font, we can still add a name / address block to the document. Having a computer not working can be very stressful and we want this logo to be clean and professional, but also something that makes them think of a personal interaction with friendly technician. Thanks!!

Regarding draft #10, #11, and #12 - the "computer screen" in #11 was our favorite of those 3, but without the partial circle above. The font, specifically the "S" was not easily readable.

For draft #9, it makes us think of a online service provider more than a local repair shop, but we did love how clean the folder with arrows looked.

For draft #7, I was looking for something more computer related in the logo and the font for "specialist" is too high tech, where we would prefer either something simple, or perhaps playful.

Sorry, first time and we couldn't figure out how to leave feedback! I like the icon in draft #4, but I would prefer the logo be more square, like a 2.5 to 1 or 3 to 1 width to height ratio (since our name is so long, our previous attempts at logos never fit).
