Westwood High School is home to a "program," (we call it a "collaborative") that interested students can join called Studio D. The "D" stands for "design" because we use design thinking methods and mindsets (like IDEO and the d.school at Stanford) to teach across the curriculum. Studio D needs an awesome logo that is an creative and innovative as we are!

Studio D is a "school within a school," and our teachers team teach larger cohorts of students in grades 9-12. Learning at Studio D begins with an authentic problem or "design challenge" that sparks student interest. Students research and attack the problem using a 5-stage design thinking process. Along the way, students achieve academic standards in multiple subject areas, while developing creativity, independence, teamwork, and leadership skills. Students investigate, collaborate with experts in the field, make discoveries, synthesize data, brainstorm solutions, seek feedback, and reflect on their process. The result is incredible original student work that has real impact on the community and world around them.
