Creative Brief

Logo Design for Pill Style

Pill Style

Yes

Pill Style will be in the business of the decoration/stylization/personalization of pill and vitamin containers -- everything from travel pill holders, to daily/weekly/monthly organizers, to prescription bottles and off-the-shelf bottles themselves. In some cases, we will manufacture the entire product. In other cases, the product will be an "add-on" to an existing pill container. The logo will be the corporate identity for web, signage and letterhead, and will appear on each individual product as well.

not sure

Please stay away from invoking in the logo any well-known specific pill (e.g., the blue diamond of Viagra). The logo does not have to incorporate a pill or pill shape, although it certainly can. Thanks.

niexZ, Can you take #131 and make it so that there are only *two* colors total in the logo? Instead of the green for the dot over the "i" and the capsule over the "y," can you make the dot the same blue color as "Style" and the capsule the same blue color as "Pill"? And can I see another version where the two blue colors you use are the same as the blue colors in #93?

With one day left, I challenge everybody to do a logo that's not in the blue/green color range -- something that stands out and makes me take notice!

dermawan: I really like your designs #93, #97 and #141. Right now the logo looks a little too much like a division sign -- I'd be interested in seeing the two round pills on the left and right, and the "long pill" from top to bottom. In other words, making the "long pill" vertical and the two round pills horizontal. If you're up for it.

    niexZ, I would love to see your designs -- #71, #94, #98, #103 and #105 -- in a rounder, more-fun font, like the font in #93, #97, #112, #115.

I like the concept of #112 -- it's fun and playful, and i like the big pill as the dot over the "i". I'm interested in seeing it in some different colors and maybe with a different (but still fun) font. And I'd be interested in seeing the pill match the color of the word "style." And I like the designs where "style" is the *darker* color, because that's what should be emphasized.

Thank you, everybody, for working on this. Since there are now only 2 days left, I have eliminated all of the designs that don't represent a direction I want to go in. I am still open to completely new designs and colors, too. To niexZ, I like when the dot over the "i" in "pill" is a different color from the rest of the word "pill" -- like it is in #71. I would like to see the dot over the "i" being a different color in your designs #94, #98, #103 and #105. Also, in your #105, you can delete the bottom one, because I want the word "style" to be always be darker than the word "pill." And in your #103, you can delete the top one, because I like the blue that's in the bottom one better.

#71 and #93 really capture the "fun" and "creativity" requirements. I like the colors of #93 a lot -- not crazy about the darker green and the blue in #71. I would prefer to see the blues and green that are in #36. Still open to completely different designs, too. Thanks again everybody.

Colors: I do not like the blue and orange together. My favorite color schemes so far #5, #16, #27, #36 and #38. Reminder: "Style" should be the word emphasized, in design, color, decoration, bold-ness, etc. Thanks.

#17, #27, #38, #41 and #42: I get that the graphic is stacked oblong pills, but the designs might be *too* abstract -- is there any way you can make it more obvious that they're pills?

I appreciate all the hard work. I've eliminated some so everybody gets a better idea of what I'm looking for -- simplicity with a bit of cleverness and fun. Some of the ones I eliminated were just too complicated, and some left out the cleverness and fun. And I'm definitely liking the ones that emphasize the word "style" more than the word "pill" in the company name.

I'm liking #17 because it places equal emphasis on the words "pill" and "style." Many of the others emphasize the word "pill." It makes me realize that the emphasis on the two words should be at least equal, and it wouldn't hurt if "style" were the more-emphasized word, since that's what this company does -- we add *style* to pill containers. I've rated #14 much lower because the pattern of shapes looks more like an atomic structure than randomly shaped pills. I like the cleverness and simplicity of #24 and #25, but "style" would need to be more heavily emphasized somehow. Thanks everybody.

Thanks, everybody so far. As my own ideas about the logo start to coalesce after seeing these designs, I can offer the following: 1) I want to keep the separation between the words "pill" and "style" -- either a space, a separate line, or some design element besides font face or font weight separating the words; 2) I'm drawn to the sans-serif fonts; 3) I'm not ruling out the oblong shape, since I know that's easier to encapsulate the company name. But I'd be interested to see if anybody can come up a way to incorporate a round pill to encapsulate all or part of the company name, or multiple round pills outside the company name entirely.

#1: A few things I probably should've specified more clearly in my brief: 1) I do want some color (at least 2, but as many as it takes); 2) the logo should signify "fun" in addition to style and creativity -- the products we make are essentially novelty items, after all; and 3) I don't like cursive/script lettering.
