We need a logo design [and a complementary design/layout for business cards and stationary.] We do not want any unusually shaped business cards [and we want the stationary design to be one we can print onto good quality paper in our office from a good color printer.]
We have started a minority owned commercial real estate business called Civitas Real Estate, LLC focused on serving the minority community and the government sector in the Washington, DC area. We selected the name Civitas because Civitas in Latin means "the body of citizens who constitute a state, especially a city-state, commonwealth, or the like; citizenship, especially as imparting shared responsibility, a common purpose, and sense of community." We thought it was a fitting name because of our govt focus and our interest in serving the community. We are very experienced commercial real estate professionals and our target market is very sophisticated so, although we are a small entity currently, we must project the kind of image that will allow us to operate within the sophisticated, big business community. The commercial real estate industry tends to be stodgy and stable, not very edgy or technologically advanced...very similar to what many people think of banking or accounting. We want to convey the stability and constancy that one expects from commercial real estate, while also expressing that we are current and modern. We tend toward liking more sleek and minimal designs.
One thought we had is to play on the Latin origins of the name Civitas and create a font based on the Latin way of writing A and V...but we are not designers so we defer to the experts.

This is for a COMMERCIAL real estate company, not a RESIDENTIAL real estate company and so any image or reference to a house structure or a pitched roof or people is not really representative of my business. Also, I want to note that commercial real estate is a male-dominated business and the image needs to appeal to a male aesthetic.
I would like a logo that can be lifted and used on it's own as an icon that would be identifiable as our company, assuming we become well known in the industry....similar to target and it's red bullseye logo.
